The MODERATE project has been featured in a new article by the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP) highlighting the growth and impact of the Smart Energy Cluster — a collaborative network accelerating the smart and sustainable energy transition across Europe.
Published on 2 February 2026, the article “The Smart Energy Cluster: A Growing Collaborative Force for the Energy Transition” showcases how this powerful cluster of EU-funded initiatives is scaling up its efforts to bridge research, policy, and market‑ready solutions for a climate‑neutral Europe.
A Growing Network of Impactful Projects
Three years after its establishment, the Smart Energy Cluster now brings together 35 ongoing projects — spanning areas such as smart buildings, integrated energy services, grid flexibility, and consumer engagement — along with 23 projects that have successfully concluded.
Among these, MODERATE is recognized for its contribution towards developing an open platform leveraging cutting‑edge technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning and the Internet of Things (IoT) to support the integrated energy transition.
Strengthening Collaboration, Multiplying Results
The Cluster functions as more than just a listing of projects; it’s a hub for joint dissemination, communications and exploitation activities designed to amplify individual project achievements and multiply impacts across the sector. By working together, projects share insights, reach larger audiences, and help accelerate the deployment of smart energy solutions with tangible benefits — from reduced energy costs for end users to smarter service models and faster market uptake.
